Handling “I need to think about it”
One real playbook, exactly like the ones your team gets from every Thrive training course — this one, on the most common stall in any sales conversation.
Why they’re really saying it
- They’re not convinced yet, and don’t want to say so directly.
- The price hasn’t been justified — they don’t yet see why it’s worth it.
- Someone else needs to agree, and they haven’t said that yet.
- They’re being polite. It’s often a genuine “no” wearing a softer coat.
What not to say
- “Sure, take your time.” Closes the conversation with nothing left to work with.
- “Is it the price?” Jumps to an assumption instead of asking.
- Going quiet and hoping they call back. They usually don’t.
What to say instead
- “That’s fair — what specifically would help you decide?” (finds the real objection)
- “Most people who say that are stuck on one of three things: price, timing, or whether it’ll actually work. Which one is it for you?”
- “What would need to be true for this to be an easy yes?”
The follow-up that actually works
- Agree a specific day to talk again — not “I’ll follow up soon.”
- Send one thing that addresses their specific hesitation, not a generic brochure.
- If they go quiet twice, ask directly: “Has this dropped down your list, or is it still live?”
This is one playbook.
Every course we run leaves your team with a full set — built from real conversations, not a generic script library.
